White Court Dance Update
White Court Dance
I expect most people in the village know about the dancing school which is held on a Tuesday at Great Notley Community Centre and Saturdays at White Court School. It is for children of all ages including the Adult tappers who meet at the community centre at 8.45pm.Do contact Miss Margaret on 01376 331 647 for details.
I would like to tell you of the results of the exams we did in November. The children from 4 to 17years took a total of 196 exams with the International Dance Teachers Association in Ballet, Tap, Freestyle, Jazz and Gymnastic Dance. There were exactly 100 pupils achieving "honours" with our local Billy Elliott who is 10 year old Mitchell Day who was awarded 96%. This is the highest mark ever given to anyone at the club in twenty four and a half years. This mark was for Gym but he also got 88% for ballet, 87% for tap and 85% for freestyle! The club cups and awards were presented at the Christmas party and the results were as follows
Club Champion - Sophie Cunningham
Runners Up - Emma Heaver, Jordan Clarke and Indiana Miller
Gym Champion - Amy Hammond
Freestyle/Jazz Champion - Sarah Timms and Francesca Cushion
Tap Champion - Jamie Dent
Ballet Champion - Kelly Sturgess and Gregory Bennett
A special award was given to the Green sisters who achieved outstanding results with Rebecca gaining 87% for Tap and Jacqueline 90% for Gym.
The party was a great success as the older children enjoyed magic skills and fun with Michael Fitch and the younger children had a conventional party with silly games and lots of sweets and cakes.
This term is Festival term and the children will be competing against the other dancing schools in the area. This year it is at the Institute on Saturday 14th to Tuesday 17th and we welcome anyone from the local community centre to come along and watch. It is wonderful entertainment for a couple of pounds all day and who knows you may see some stars of the future.
The teachers have had a wonderful time recently by dancing over the New Year in India and Miss Jo is going on tour to Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia shortly. We are very pleased to have Miss Rachel back for a while but I expect she will be off to rehearse for Summer season soon.
We have lots of fun at dancing and there is always a goal to reach. Come and join us.

Blackout Blues
This poem was submitted by a resident this week.
Sunday night, no light in sight not to warm not to bright,
Cold and sad, feeling bad,
I’ve got the Blackout Blues.
Monday night, still no light, down to the gym for a shower and swim,
Pizza for tea, bed is cold for me,
I’ve got the Blackout Blues.
Tuesday morning, day is dawning still no sight candles alight.
Mum on the phone, she begins to moan.
Takeaway for tea, electricity we have no.
I’ve got the Blackout Blues.
Tuesday night bed by candle light, cold and grey for another day.
I wish the Blues would go away,
When all of a sudden I hear a cheer, the lights are on, is Christmas here.
Warm and snug as a bug in a rug,
No More Blackout Blues.
Jennie.

PARC Update
Hi there,
Pat Thompson, Secretary of PARC.
Just a couple of things for your information and assistance if possible.
We have now relocated to the Discovery Centre so I wonder if you could update our address and telephone number on your website as follows:
Play and Resoure Centre (PARC)
Discovery Centre
Great Notley Country Park
Great Notley
CM7 8FS
Tel: 01376 528999
Fax: 01376 348767
Also, Braintree & Bocking Carnival Committee are holding a sponsored footpath walk on Sunday 9th September starting at 9.00 a.m. from Riverside Pool car park. Anyone wishing to join in can raise sponsorship for a charity of their choice. If anyone wishes to raise funds for PARC we would be delighted. Can you incorporate a plea for us? We were successful in getting a marathon runner earlier in the year thanks to your efforts and fingers crossed, we could repeat that success.
Thanks very much.
Let me know if you need any more information.
Pat

PARC Update and Thanks.
Website Plea works for PARC.
Back in March the Great Notley Website published cries for help from PARC to recruit London Marathon runners. This excellent media resource came up trumps when local villager Paul Stevens responded directly to our plea.
Paul joined two other runners from the Springfield Striders who together raised over £1000. This will go towards the building of the outdoor adventure playground and indoor resource centre for children with disabilities on the Great Notley Country Park.(Click here for more
details)
So THANKS:
..to the Webmaster for putting our site together and promoting the PARC project
..to Paul for choosing PARC as his charity (& next year too!)
..to all the villagers who donated to our collection outside Tesco's last Saturday (2nd June) and came to talk to us.
& here's to securing enough funding to start building the centre in the near future.
If you would like to get more involved with PARC - do a parachute jump, hold a coffee morning or get your employer to donate skills, sponsorship or choose us as their charity for the year - then please contact Vanessa Conder on Tel:(01376) 552525 x2353 or email vc@parc-essex.org.
Thank You
