Great Notley Garden Village Residents Association

Newsletter Number 6

Date : 14th. January, 1999.

WILL ALL RESIDENTS PLEASE NOTE THAT A PUBLIC MEETING IS TO BE HELD IN THE LARGE HALL OF THE COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION BUILDING ON THURSDAY, 21ST. JANUARY , 1999 AT 8 P.M.

Following on from Newsletter No.5 we have received a letter from Robin Hoyles (M.D. of Countryside), a copy of which is attached.

He clearly fails to appreciate the widespread depth of feeling against the plans suggested by Countryside for the pub/restaurant scheme and a copy of our reply is also appended.

You will note that the meeting has been booked in the large hall and this is in view of the avalanche of replies and comments that have come in. Even the large hall may not be able to accommodate all the people who have expressed a wish to attend.

Almost 100% of the replies expressed opposition to a pub/restaurant of this size.

Countryside seem to be so intent on steamrollering this concept through without consulting the people who will be most affected that you now have your chance to express your views to whichever representative of Countryside attends the meeting.

If you express your views and feelings as strongly as many of you have already done by letter, telephone and comments on the slips, then Countryside should be in no doubt about how we feel.

If the nature of our environment is under threat, we are entitled to be consulted. Countryside have no moral right to force this scheme down our throats for reasons which, to us, are as yet unclear.
