Empty that Aerosol !

My aerosol shaving gel was on the point of running out this morning , and I used a tip that I read years ago to get the last drops out of the can.
Run the body of the can under the HOT tap for 10 seconds and it will provide another splodge of gel.
If this is repeated on subsequent days , further "free" shaves are available ( until the gas runs out)
It also works on other aerosols.

Hard Water

For those of you in hard water areas with washing machines.
Have you seen the adverts for Calgon tablets ?
Expensive aren't they ?
You can buy a big bag of soda crystals.
Same stuff but without the brand name, much cheaper and you get more in a bag too.

Various Tips

A few random tips.

  • To remove tar or grease from white leather, try nail polish remover.
  • When lengthening clothes to remove the crease left by the old hem, try sponging with white vinegar and press with a warm iron.
  • Use double sided sticky tape as a quick repair for a loose hem.
  • To remove 'Pilling' or 'bobbles' from clothing try sticky tape or an electric razor.
  • To disguise the faded mark on denim when lenthening clothes try mixing a little permanent ink with water until it matches the shade required then carefully paint on with a small brush. Allow to dry thoroughly. Alternatively, fabric paint could be used or, at a pinch, felt tip pens.
  • If a favourite piece of jewellery e.g. ring or watch bracelet, irritates your skin try painting the inside with clear nail varnish.
  • To prevent zippers sticking rub them with a lead pencil or with edge of a bar of soap - you may start foaming when it rains of course!
  • Use a hair dryer to remove wrinkles and creases from plastic material.

You try any of our submitted tips at your own risk.

Save Alcohol

If you have a little beverage left over, don't throw it away. Pour it into ice cube trays and freeze it. When you prepare the same beverage use these ice cubes instead of the "water" type. When the ice melts your drink will not lose its flavour and become too watery. Or use it for cooking.

Internet Tips

  • Only give credit card details if you are sure you are on a secure Web Page (indicated by a small padlock icon)
  • Never send credit card details by email.
  • When choosing passwords, try not to make it too obvious. A combination of letters and numbers is the best option.
